If there is a purpose in our lives then, I believe, it is the purpose we create ourselves. There is so much wonder and complexity in nature that our fascination should never become exhausted. When we add this gift to our imagination, the workings of humanity; our histories, our cultures, our sociology and psychology, then how can a mind not be enquiring?

I write as a form of exploration. I write as an artistic expression of what I see of life within and without me. My aim is more to entertain and delight than anything else.

In the study of history I find the microscope, in the study of science I find the telescope and standing amongst the nature of our world I find awe.

After having worked for 10 years as a financial journalist in Japan, I left my position at Nikkei to develop my career in London, England. Over the next two years, I will be investigating the cultural differences and lifestyles between Japan and the United Kingdom. I will be looking at the economics, history and sociological divides between the Japanese form of capitalist culture and its western counterpart.

Journalism is about asking questions and without such investigation, there exists an information gap. I want to fill that gap between knowledge and create a bridge across which my readers can cross to gain a better understanding of the societies they can see across the divide.
